All wrestlers hate to lose. We all are striving to go undefeated. Most of us can't make that claim and there are very few who can. It takes an extraordinary wrestler to go undefeated throughout his career.

There is an opponent however that defeats every man. No ordinary man has ever defeated sin. The Bible says:

"For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God?s glorious standard."

Because we have lost to sin, we not only don't get to stand on the victor's podium, but we deserve punishment.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord."

In wrestling if we get defeated we can go back to the practice room and work harder to get better and hopefully have victory the next time we face our opponent. Some people think if they try harder to live a good life and do good things or if their good outweighs their bad then that will get them into Heaven

That is a lie. The truth is that even one sin separates you from God and Heaven; no matter how many good things you do or how hard you work at doing the right things.

"But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners."
Romans 4:5 (NLT)

If you can't win against sin and the punishment is spiritual death and hell~ What are you to do?

Thankfully we have a God who loves us enough to provide us salvation through His Son. God's son Jesus saw us getting defeated time and time again so He told his Father: "I'll go wrestle sin for them and not only will I have victory over sin but I will also take the punishment men deserve and die for their sins."

"For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16 (NLT)

So God came to earth as a man named Jesus and He lived His whole life and went undefeated against sin. He didn't sin even once. Even though He had a perfect record, He took the loss for us by dying on the cross for our sins. It looked like death had defeated Jesus. But three days after He had died He rose again. So He not only defeated sin, but He also defeated death so we could have eternal life in Heaven.

"He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God."
Romans 4:25 (NLT)

God loves you and He wants you on the victor's podium with Him and He wants you to live forever in Heaven with Him.

God offers you the trophy of salvation from eternal death. But you have the choice whether to accept His salvation or to keep trying to get to Heaven on your own.

"I don't want you to die, says the Sovereign LORD. Turn back and live!"
Ezekiel 18:32 (NLT)

God wants us to turn back from our sinful ways (repent) and rather than live our lives only for ourselves, we should live our lives for Him. If that is your desire, then pray this prayer:

Jesus, I have sinned, I am living a defeated life. I want victory. I believe that you lived a perfect life for me and that you died for my sins. You took my punishment upon yourself, rose again and defeated death, so I can live eternally in heaven with you. Please forgive me for my sins. From this day forward, I will do my best to live a life that will please you because you died for me. Please come into my life and be my Savior, My Lord and My Champion. Amen.

"But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness."

Congratulations! If you prayed that prayer, and you truly meant it with all your heart, you have just won the greatest victory in your life. You are now a Christian. Now go tell someone about your victory!

Now that you are on God's team there are some things you need to do to know him better.

1. Find a Bible that is easy for you to read and understand.
2. Start by reading the book of John. That will tell you about all the victories Jesus had in his life for you.
3. You need teammates to help you, so find a church that believes having faith in Jesus and what he did for us is the only way to Heaven.
4. Pray for God's help and guidance. He's a kind coach and he will help you.
5. Get baptized. Being baptized is the way Jesus told us to show the world that we are Christians.
